Matthew Wakefield qualified in medicine from Birmingham in 2007, and was newly appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in 2017 after advanced specialist training in the cataract, cornea and external eye diseases. Research interests stem from his PhD studies and include the application of spectroscopic techniques and light therapy in clinical ophthalmology.
