Roddy Nash was appointed Consultant General Surgeon with special interest in Vascular and Endocrine surgery to the Derby Hospitals in September 1984.
During his time in Derbyshire he lead the development of undergraduate medical education with Nottingham Medical School.
He had a major interest in Clinical Leadership. He served on the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary Trust Board for four years.
He worked to modernise the Elective care pathway with a focus on clinical and process quality and productivity. This led on to the promotion of Day Surgery as a speciality offering the best and most productive elective surgical pathway. As part of this work he introduced and developed a Local Anaesthetic Hernia practice.
Selected career highlights
The development of undergraduate medical education in the Derby Hospitals as Undergraduate Tutor and Clinical Sub Dean culminating in Nottingham Medical School establishing a Post Graduate Medical School in Derby.
Serving on the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary Trust Board as Medical Director and Chief Executive.
Member of the Modernisation Agency, Service Improvement Team for 5 years
Council Member of the British Association of Day Surgery for 7 years
Clinical Chairman and Consultant Surgeon at Circle NHS Treatment Centre in Nottingham for 5 years.
