Mr Nick Maycock

Mr Nick Maycocok qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Hospital medical school in London before completing his higher ophthalmic training at the University Hospital of Southampton and the Wessex Deanery. Advanced corneal subspecialty training was completed at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth and St Thomas’ Hospital in London.  

Nick is an NHS consultant and clinical lead for the corneal service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust. He has a special interest in refractive surgery, complex cataract surgery, keratoconus, Fuchs endothelial dystrophy, pterygium and dry eyes.  

Selected Career Highlights

 Awarded distinction in the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Ulster University postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery (PGDipCRS) and has since been invited to become a tutor on the course. 

Past committee member of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) Young Ophthalmologist Program (YOP).  

Actively involved in research having spent two years working in the pharmaceutical industry /most recently winning an award for recruitment to the multicentre, phase IV PERSPECTIVE Study on dry eyes. 

Over 35 publications and recently co-authored a leading textbook on cornela topography 

Passionate about training the next generation of doctors and ophthalmologists and is a clinical personal tutor and examiner at Warwick Medical School
